Hmm on this day I want to draw. I've not really been into my art as of late. I've let it slide to the background of my life. I believe it is because with my art I was never satisfied. I could never draw a picture and think it looked awesome. I'm my own worst critic, as the saying goes. And with that there was never any kind of pay off for me with my art. I never felt like I had accomplished anything. It was just a picture. Just a way to pass time. A time sink. Though thinking about it recently I've realized that it wasn't just that. It was more. It was me expressing myself, and finding new techniques to do so. I've joked with friends that I can only draw a picture if the person in it is holding a sword. I found this to be a limitation. Though now I think it is just a preference. I like swords, and fantasy, and women in skantily clad outfits. I enjoy heroic poses, and muscles that seem to be in a constant state of flexing. I enjoy trying to show on paper, with a pencil, the insane idea's and stories I create. I enjoy every other person telling me while looking at my drawings, "I can only draw stick figures, I don't know how you do that." I used to tell people that talent didn't exist, that anyone could draw they just needed practice, motivation, and the ability to learn and adapt technique. I think I was wrong. I think talent does exist. And I think that I do have a talent. And I would like to start feeding that talent once more. With lots and lots of bad pictures that I will undoubtedly throw away. So I can have those few that people will look at and say "Wow... I can only draw stick figures."
